5 Ways to Feel Comfortable in Front of the Camera

I’ve heard it time and time again;

“The camera hates me”

“Me and the camera aren’t friends”

“I’m awkward in front of the camera”

Yet, every time the pictures turn out amazing and no one would believe me if i told them what these people thought prior to our session.

Its super important that clients feel comfortable around us as this greatly affects the outcome of their photos. With this in mind, I’ve created a list of my Top 5 ways to feel comfortable in front of the camera to help both fellow photographers and clients feel comfortable and be themselves so that they can make photo magic together!

Derrick & Sophie - Adventure Engagement Session at Lynn Canyon, North Vancouver

When Sophie told me they are both "super goofy and a little immature", I knew we had to do something that would reflect that aspect of their relationship.  I suggested that after they take some nice formal photos, we all jump into the water together and splash around to grab some AMAZING candids (Yes i was butt deep in the water with a SARAN-wrapped camera telling them to splash water towards me, while Taylor was standing in the water a few feet away grabbing a different angle.  Some may call us a little crazy) . I almost feel that I had more fun with this than they did!
